Beach Photographs
1996-2002

Materials: Fibre-based b/w photographs, bees wax, masonite, gum tape, ink

These photographs drew their inspiration from family snapshots, but attempted to subvert the assumption of preservation-of-memory which is implicit in family photo albums by actively degrading the surfaces of the photographs, or combining them with text. The first few images show the initial photographs, while later images show the ways in which they were re-worked. Some of these were also included in the Postcards series.
